Who is responsible

mindtwin.social is the controller of your personal data. Contact: ask@mindtwin.social.

What we collect

Without an account: the question you type, your answer to the Question of the day, and a hashed version of your IP address used for the daily search limit. We don't keep your question: it is only used to show results and never enters the matching pool.

With an account: your email, first name, city if you add it, questions, chats, connections, characters, settings, the last time you were active, and any blocks or reports.

If you join a list: the email you give us for launch news or the Question of the day.

What other people see

Your question is visible to people who ask something similar, including visitors without an account. They see it with your first initial, your city if you added it, and when you asked. People with an account see your first name, unless you choose mystery twin.

Your email is never shown to other people. Your chats are visible to the people in them.

How AI is used

Questions are sent to AI providers to check them for safety, choose a topic and find similar questions, including questions from visitors without an account.

Chat messages are sent to an AI provider for safety moderation and, when people use different languages, for translation. Recent messages are also used to suggest replies. AI may hide a message that breaks our rules.

Why we use your data

To provide the service you asked for, such as finding twins and running your chats (contract).

To keep people safe, prevent abuse and limit automated use (legitimate interests).

To send you the emails you signed up for (consent). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who processes your data

Vercel hosts the website. Convex stores the data. Anthropic provides AI moderation, text and translation. Voyage AI compares the meaning of questions. Resend sends email. If you log in with Google or Apple, that company also processes your login.

Some of these companies are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.

How long we keep it

Account data stays until you delete it or your account. When you delete your account we remove your profile, questions, connections and answers. Messages you sent stay in the other person's chat, without your name.

Daily search limit records are kept for operational purposes and contain no raw IP address. List emails stay until you ask to be removed. Our providers may keep data for a limited time under their own policies.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to ask@mindtwin.social.

You can also complain to the data protection authority in your EU country.

Cookies and storage

We use one cookie to remember your language, and browser storage for your login, theme and a visitor identifier. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.

Age

mindtwin.social is for people aged 18 or older.

If this policy changes in an important way, we will update this page and tell account holders.
